A legal institution where a notary, on the basis of a written custody agreement, takes over funds, documents or other valuables from a participant in a legal transaction or another person and undertakes to keep them and issue them to the recipient after the agreed conditions are met. The notary keeps the funds in a special bank account separate from his property and is obliged to act impartially, in accordance with the law and the Notarial Code. (Section 2402 et seq. of the Civil Code; Section 85 et seq. of Act No. 358/1992 Coll., Notarial Code)
