Frequently asked questions

Short answers

How long does an EU trade mark last?

Registration is valid for 10 years from the filing date. It can then be renewed for further 10-year periods, repeatedly.

What if I miss the EU trade mark renewal deadline?

After the deadline expires, you still have 6 months to renew, but with a higher fee. That is why we monitor deadlines for you.

How does EU trade mark renewal work?

Just give us the basic details and we take care of everything at the EUIPO. Once the fees are paid, we usually file the request within 2 business days; the EUIPO then records the renewal in the register and gives notice of it.
